Pro Football Focus recently named the teams most likely to have the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Shockingly, they named the Los Angeles Chargers as the most likely to have it.

With the NFL Draft and the bulk of free agency over, the Los Angeles Chargers will be focused on getting ready for the start of the regular season.

Due to the coronavirus, there will be a lot of question marks regarding when normal offseason activities take place, as the virus will surely affect preparations for the upcoming season.

This offseason, the Chargers went through a lot of changes. However, the losses of Philip Rivers and Melvin Gordon could be significant ones. To start the season, the Chargers will likely be rolling with Tyrod Taylor as their starting quarterback, and Austin Ekeler as their primary running back.

Recently, Pro Football Focus said that the Chargers would be the most likely team to have the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

This was pretty shocking to see, as the Chargers had five wins last season, and while they did lose their starting quarterback and running back, they easily could have had a better record last season.

Even though Taylor might not have the same pedigree of Rivers, the Rivers that we saw last season was one that was on the decline. Taylor does have a winning record as a starter in the NFL, as he is more than capable of winning games. While he might not be a franchise quarterback, he can certainly keep the Chargers in games.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Chargers are very good. They could easily have one of the better defenses in the league, and teams that get the No.1 overall pick generally don’t have that.

One of the things that could hurt the Chargers’ chances of winning games is their schedule. They are in what has become a very difficult AFC West, and they will also face the NFC South. While the schedule might not be easy and they might not have the same starting quarterback as last season, it is hard to imagine that the Chargers will be the worst team in the NFL next season.
