Los Angeles Lakers: 4 Players they should have selected over Julius Randle
By Nick Ziegler
– Clint Capela
One of the players that the Lakers could have elected to draft over Randle is Clint Capela of the Atlanta Hawks. Since being drafted by the Rockets with the 25th overall pick, Capela has been a good big man in the middle.
While Capela isn’t a superstar, he is a very strong big man and brings some nice things to the table. On the defensive end of the court, Capela is one of the better shot blockers in the league. So far in his career, Capela is averaging 1.5 blocks per game, as he is a very solid rim protector.
On the offensive end, Capela might not be as polished as Randle, but he has been an excellent finisher of lobs around the rim. Capela’s ability to run the pick and roll with James Harden in his career helped him land a big contract.
Capela’s greatest strength is arguably his ability to rebound the basketball. For the last three seasons, Capela has averaged more than 10 rebounds per game. Capela was traded to the Atlanta Hawks recently but has yet to play with them. As a great rebounder, defender around the rim, and finisher, the hope for Atlanta is that Capela will help them take the next step with Trae Young.
