One of the surprisingly good combos for the Los Angeles Lakers this season has been Alex Caruso and LeBron James.

As the Los Angeles Lakers wait for the NBA season to hopefully resume, it gives us a chance to look back at what has been successful for the team so far this season.

After a disappointing first season in Los Angeles, LeBron James has turned it around in his second season. James is going to be an MVP candidate come award time this season, as his tough 2018-19 season with the Lakers feels like a thing of the past.

While James being healthy is the main reason for him having a much better season, the Lakers have also surrounded him much better this season. In his first season, the Lakers didn’t do a good job getting the type of players that succeed with James.

However, this season they added more threats from 3-point range and Anthony Davis. As one of the best players in the league, James plays well with most of his teammates. However, there is noticeable chemistry between him and Alex Caruso.

Recently on an IG live with Jared Dudley, Dudley and Caruso talked about how well Caruso plays with James. Here’s what he had to say with text via Silver Screen and Roll.

"Yeah, the plus-minus is always interesting like you said. I made a joke with somebody, I can’t remember who it was, it was like ‘you always want to be on the court whenever ‘Bron goes on one of those 10-0 scoring runs by himself. That helps your plus-minus a lot.’But I think me and him have a, you have the same thought process too, we’re just head basketball players. Like you know spacing, you know defensive awareness, you know guys’ tendencies. I feel like me and him just have a connection of understanding the game."

Caruso might be one of the most popular Lakers behind James and Davis, as you can tell that he gives it his all every night. While Caruso will rarely light up a box score, he is rather easy to notice on the court.

Making the hustle plays and the right plays don’t always show up in the box score, but they are a huge part of the game. Caruso seems like he has a great understanding of what to do when he is on the court with James, and James’ high basketball IQ matches up well with Caruso’s.

It might not be the most likely combo on the team to have success, but there is no denying that James and Caruso have great chemistry. As Caruso continues to get better as a player, he and James might see the court a little more often at the same time.
