Bleacher Report recently named one thing for every NFL franchise to look forward to next season. For the Los Angeles Rams, it was rookie running back, Cam Akers.

As we get ready for the 2020 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing season.

After representing the NFC in the Super Bowl in 2018, the Rams missed the playoffs last season. As expected, this offseason resulted in a lot of changes for the Rams, as they saw players like Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley get traded and released.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Rams addressed the running back position quickly with the addition of Cam Akers from Florida State. Akers was a good player at Florida State for three seasons, as he totaled 2,875 rushing yards and 486 receiving yards in three seasons.

The ability to both run and catch the ball could help Akers become a three-down back in the NFL, as it always helps to have a running back that can catch the ball out of the backfield. Akers was great for Florida State in his junior season, as he totaled over 1,000 rushing yards and 200 receiving yards to go along with 18 total touchdowns.

Recently, Bleacher Report said that the thing for the Rams fans to most look forward to this season will be Akers.

For the Rams, running the football is extremely important for their offense. When the Rams were a good running team with Gurley in 2018, Jared Goff looked like he was on his way toward becoming a great young quarterback. However, when the running game took a hit last season, so did Goff.

dark. Next. Who is the best-kept secret on the Rams?

Not having that balance on offense resulted in Goff regressing and the Rams’ offense struggling. If Akers can have an impact as a rookie, the Rams’ offense might be able to get back to its form of 2018. Hopefully, that would result in a better record for 2020.
