Recent Chargers news is that they had their great wide receiver duo ranked as one of the Top-5 duos in the NFL.

As we get closer to the start of the 2020 season, recent Chargers news has been about how this team might do next season.

Coming off a disappointing 5-11 season in 2019, the Chargers are hoping to be a bit better next season.  With the down season, it has resulted in a lot of change for the Chargers, however, they should have a very good defense and they have some fantastic weapons on offense.

Recently, the Chargers had their wide receiver duo Mike Williams and Keenan Allen ranked as the fourth-best duo in the league by Bleacher Report.

This is some high praise for the duo of the Chargers, and it is also well deserved. Allen and Williams came in ranked above Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks.

Above Allen and Williams were some talented wide receiver duos in Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry of the Cleveland Browns, in addition to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Seeing Evans and Godwin coming in first on the duo’s ranking shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the emergence of Godwin last season was very noticeable.

For the Chargers, they were able to have both Allen and Williams go for over 1,000 receiving yards last season, as Williams had the best year of his career. The big jump from Williams from year two to three is encouraging for what he might be able to accomplish in his fourth season.

While the Chargers do have two great wide receivers, they do have some question marks at the quarterback position. Even though Philip Rivers struggled last season, he still was able to move the ball for the Chargers. This season, Tyrod Taylor is the likely starter in Week 1. However, Justin Herbert will likely get a crack at starting this season if things don’t go well.

With one of the Top-5 wide receiver duos in the league, Taylor or Herbert should be able to find some success for the Chargers in 2020.
