Above Allen and Williams were some talented wide receiver duos inJulio JonesandCalvin Ridleyof the Atlanta Falcons,Odell BeckhamJr. andJarvis Landryof the Cleveland Browns, in addition toMike EvansandChris Godwinof the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Seeing Evans and Godwin coming in first on the duo’s ranking shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the emergence of Godwin last season was very noticeable.
For the Chargers, they were able to have both Allen and Williams go for over 1,000 receiving yards last season, as Williams had the best year of his career. The big jump from Williams from year two to three is encouraging for what he might be able to accomplish in his fourth season.
While the Chargers do have two great wide receivers, they do have some question marks at the quarterback position. Even though Philip Rivers struggled last season, he still was able to move the ball for the Chargers. This season,Tyrod Tayloris the likely starter in Week 1. However, Justin Herbert will likely get a crack at starting this season if things don’t go well.
With one of the Top-5 wide receiver duos in the league, Taylor or Herbert should be able to find some success for the Chargers in 2020.
