– Memphis Grizzlies

The first team that the Lakers should want to play in the playoffs is the team that they would face if the league resumes and goes right into the playoffs. As we have recently seen with the NHL’s plan to resume, the Lakers’ first game back could be a playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

In recent years, the Grizzlies were never a team that anyone wanted to face in the playoffs. They played a very tough and slow style of play, and with guys like Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Mike Conley, they were very successful.

Well, this is a completely different team for the Grizzlies. A quick rebuild in Memphis has resulted in a successful season this year, as potential Rookie of the Year Ja Morant could be playing in his first playoff game. Experience is key in the playoffs, and while Morant is talented, he’s never been on the big stage as a rookie.

The Grizzlies have certainly had a great season, but it is hard to imagine that they would get more than one game off the Lakers in a playoff series. As a mostly young squad, the Lakers should welcome facing them in the first round of the playoffs.
