Recent Lakers news is that Alex Caruso is very aware of how rare it could be to win a title and it’s why he wants to finish the season.

As we patiently wait for the NBA season to resume, recent Lakers news has been about Alex Caruso.

For the last couple of years, Caruso has become one of the top fan-favorites on the Lakers. Even though he isn’t a superstar, Caruso knows his role on the team and plays it to the highest level capable every time he’s on the floor.

While the stats won’t jump off the page, good things happen for the Lakers when Caruso is on the court. He is an excellent defender and moves very well without the ball on the offensive end of the court.

When playing with LeBron James, Caruso seems to take it to another level as those two are great on the court together with their high basketball IQs.

Recently, Caruso spoke about the importance of trying to finish up the season. With the Lakers being a title contender, he knows these chances don’t come often for most players. Here’s what he had to say on “The LiucciCast,” with text via Silver Screen and Roll.

"“I’m a role player, I know my role and I’m working to get better and to maybe have a bigger role on different teams, but I know that the chances are very slim. You don’t get many opportunities, and you hear that from so many people around the league and in professional sports, that you don’t get a lot of opportunities to win championships."

Caruso is spot on with his statement that being a title contender isn’t something that should be taken for granted. As we saw last season, the Lakers didn’t even make the playoffs when James went down, as one injury can drastically change the season.

For the Lakers this season, they have a great chance of winning it all. James is playing at an MVP level, and Anthony Davis has been a superstar in Los Angeles.

While there is a lot of uncertainty about how the season will resume, the hope is that it will. For Caruso, you know that he will be ready to go if the Lakers get on the court for some playoff basketball in the near future.
