Recent Lakers news that Portland Trail Blazers guard, Damian Lillard believes that LeBron James should be the MVP this season.

Recent Lakers news has been about who will be the MVP of the 2019-20 season. Due to the regular season likely being over, it looks like we have two clear-cut candidates for the award.

It has been a great year for both Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers. Both of these players are the best player on the best teams in both conferences.

Recently, Damian Lillard came out and voiced his opinion on who should be the MVP this season. Here’s what he said on the Jalen and Jacoby Show with text via Bleacher Report.

"“This season, I think it’s LeBron. They’re the No. 1 team in the West. They’ve been consistent all year long. For him to be at the age he’s at, with the amount of miles that he has on his body, how often he’s talked about, the pressure they put on him every little thing that he does, and the level he’s performing at, in my opinion, I think he’s the MVP,” Lillard said Wednesday on Jalen & Jacoby."

After a down year for his standards last season, James has bounced back in a big way this year. Compared to recent years, James is much more of a pass-first player this season, as with another superstar in Anthony Davis, James has been able to be the primary facilitator for the Lakers.

This season, James is leading the league in assists per game, which is wild considering his age and size. Also, he has still been a great scorer and rebounder for the Lakers.

While James’ numbers have been great, they aren’t as good as Giannis’. The reigning MVP is at it once again for the Bucks, as he is proving to be on the best players in the league.

Even though Giannis does have better stats that James for the most part, that doesn’t mean that he is a lock to win the award. James’ age and the fact that he plays in the tougher of the two conferences could help him get the award.

Seeing a player like Lillard believe that James is the MVP of the league also helps his case. Lillard is one of the best guards in the league, and he certainly knows an MVP when he sees one.
