Dodgers News: Matt Beaty named best-kept secret on the team
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Dodgers news is that Matt Beaty was recently named the best-kept secret for the team heading into the 2020 season.
As we wait for word on the start of the 2020 MLB season, recent Dodgers news has been about who is the best-kept secret on the team.
Last season, the Dodgers had one of the best offenses in the National League. Cody Bellinger has emerged as a true superstar in the game, but the Dodgers had a lot of players that contribute to the team being one of the best offenses in the game.
Arguably the greatest strength of the Dodgers the last few years has been their depth. With an ability to matchup well against both left-handed and right-handed pitchers, the Dodgers can hurt an opposing team in a lot of ways.
With a lot of talent and depth on the team, Bleacher Report recently named the best-kept secret on the team. For the Dodgers, it was Matt Beaty.
Beaty is one of the young players from a loaded farm system, Beaty made his debut with the Dodgers in 2019. Last season, Beaty played in 99 games, totaling nine home runs, 19 doubles, 49 RBIs, and a .265 batting average.
What is nice about Beaty in the box is his ability to hit with some power. Having an OPS of. 775 is pretty solid, as 19 doubles and nine home runs in under 300 plate appearances is good.
Like others on the team, Beaty has the ability to play multiple positions, as he started over 20 games at both first base and the outfield. The Dodgers like players that have this position mobility and he played a nice role for the team last season.
With more chances in his sophomore season, Beaty might be able to improve on those numbers. If he gets more at-bats against right-handed pitchers, he could be one of the best power hitters on the team.
