Trade Package No. 1

Going into the 2019 NFL Draft, there were some fantastic safety prospects to be had. Some of the bigger names included Johnathan Abrams out of Mississippi State, who wound up a first-round pick with the now Las Vegas Raiders along with Darnell Savage, who landed with the Green Bay Packers.

But, if you were to ask Pro Football Focus before the draft, they would have told you their highest-graded safety prospect was a kid out of the University of Delaware, Nasir Adderley.

With pick number 60, the Chargers felt like they received arguably the steal of the draft when they drafted Adderley. But, his rookie campaign was anything but a feel-good story. Adderley appeared in only four games after a lingering hamstring injury sidelined him for the majority of the year.

This first trade package has the Chargers sending that promising, young kid out of Delaware to New York, plus a first and third-round pick, in exchange for Adams.

This seems like a perfect package for both sides, actually, and New York might not find a better one when looking around for other offers. To replace Adams with another youthful safety like Adderley, plus adding two high picks, is a big victory for the Jets.

Obviously, the Chargers win, too. They now have Jamal Adams lining up alongside Derwin James.

Patrick Mahomes just got chills.
