Chargers Rumors: 3 trade packages for Jamal Adams
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Package No. 2
Looking at Adams’ trade value right now, it’s probably up there with recent deals like Khalil Mack and Jalen Ramsey. What does that mean? It’s pretty simple.
Adams, on his own, is worth two first-round picks.
One of the main reasons Chargers fans would have wanted to hold onto first rounders within the last couple of years was to potentially find the future franchise quarterback. Knowing Philip Rivers was likely on his way out (of the NFL or Los Angeles), the Chargers had to plan ahead and grab their next franchise quarterback.
Thankfully, Los Angeles took that kid in this year’s draft. They landed Justin Herbert out of Oregon, thus having a kid they will try and develop for at least the next two or three seasons — and hopefully he pans out.
With this in mind, it is perfectly understandable to give up two first-round picks in order to put together one of the scariest safety duos in NFL history, and both of their careers are just beginning. Having a 24-year-old Adams next to the 23-year-old James for years to come should strike fear into the hearts of all opposing offenses — yes, even you, Kansas City.
Plus, another added bonus is that the Chargers get to keep Adderley around in hopes that he can stay healthy and add depth to what would be the absolute best safety room in football. On the flip side, if they pulled off a deal like this, Los Angeles would be wise to shop Adderley.
