It Might Not Matter

This is a bit of a cheat I promised you three reasons but in the grand scheme of the MLB start, it might not matter. With all of their roster depth and strong pitching, a few factors almost certainly guarantee a playoff spot for L.A.

As part of the new start, MLB will expand their playoffs from six teams to eight in each league. On paper, nobody can argue the Dodgers aren’t one of the top 16 teams in baseball and top eight teams in their league. Even a sub-.500 season could lead to the playoffs after just 60 games.

Another factor is the format, the Dodgers will be lumped in with the NL and AL West without any travel past the Rocky Mountains. Los Angeles realistically will be playing against six out of ten teams which finished below .500 last season with most of them in a rebuilding period, aside from the Houston Astros the Dodgers are the cream of the crop among this group.

Conclusion

The regular season should be a walk for Los Angeles, fans who have missed baseball will enjoy the boys in blue getting back to work. As always the questions won’t be about the regular season but if they will finally win the World Series.
