Recent Clippers news has been about who will be the wild card for them when they head into the 2020 NBA Playoffs when the season resumes.

After having one of the best offseasons last summer, the Los Angeles Clippers are looking as good as many people thought they would be.

The Clippers have been going toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Lakers this season despite dealing with some injuries. Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have missed time this season, but that hasn’t stopped them from being one of the best teams in the league.

At the NBA Trade Deadline, the Clippers didn’t sit on their hands with their good team. Los Angeles was aggressive at the deadline, as they added one of the top players available in Marcus Morris.

With the New York Knicks, Morris was having a great season, and the Clippers were able to add his versatility and ability to score. By getting Morris, the Clippers also kept the Lakers from acquiring him, which was something their rival was interested in.

Recently, Bleacher Report named the biggest wild card for each team when the season resumes. For the Clippers, it was none other than Morris.

So far with the Clippers, Morris’ numbers are way down from what he accomplished with the Knicks. While it was expected to see a drop in numbers due to the Clippers having more talent around Morris than the Knicks, it is the efficiency numbers that are concerning.

With LAC, Morris is shooting under 30 percent from 3-point range and under 40 percent overall. As a player who was averaging close to 20 points a game with the Knicks, the significant drop in efficiency and production with them is a bit concerning.

For Los Angeles, Morris can be a really valuable player to use in their positionless lineup, as he can play both forward spots. However, with the amount of talent L.A. has, Morris will have to perform better if he wants to keep playing close to 30 minutes a game.

With Los Angeles eyeing a championship, Morris is certainly a wild card for them right now. If he can play well, it would just be another valuable weapon for the team.
