With the Los Angeles Dodgers aiming to take home a World Series this season, they will also be hoping to see one of their young stars breakout.
It has been a very successful last few seasons for the Los Angeles Dodgers. While they haven’t been able to get a World Series win despite being close, there have been a lot more wins than losses for the team overall.
With the season being short this year, the Dodgers will be hoping to get over the hump and win a World Series finally. This offseason, they made a blockbuster trade to acquire Mookie Betts from the Boston Red Sox.
Since the Dodgers already have Cody Bellinger on the team, they will have two potential MVP candidates and one of the best duos in all of baseball. While Betts and Bellinger are already stars, the Dodgers have some young players who might be looking to take that next step forward as well.
Recently, Bleacher Report named some players in the league who are the brink of stardom. For the Dodgers, they mentioned pitcher Brusdar Graterol.
Graterol was acquired from the Minnesota Twins in a deal that sent Kenta Maeda to Minnesota. Graterol is young with electric stuff, and we saw a little bit of what he could do with the Twins last season.
Last season, Graterol was mostly in Double-A for the Twins, but his numbers were outstanding. In 52.2 innings hes totaled an ERA under 2.00 with nearly a strikeout per inning. What will be interesting to see is how the Dodgers view him as a prospect moving forward.
In Double-A, he made 9 starts in 12 appearances. So, there is some versatility that they have to work with there. The franchise has no shortage of young talent at their disposal, so it will be interesting to see what the role of Graterol will be in 2020 for the franchise.
