Blake Treinen

The next pitcher who must improve from last year wasn’t on the Dodgers last season but could be a huge piece for the franchise. This offseason, the Dodgers were able to bring in Blake Treinen off an awful season with the Oakland A’s.

Treinen battled with injuries and was just never able to get going for the A’s last season, but he is a pitcher that has been elite out of the bullpen in his career. In 2018, Treinen was arguably the best relief pitcher in baseball for the Athletics, as they went to the postseason that year.

That season, Treinen was able to total an ERA of 0.78 in over 80 innings of work, while recording 38 saves. It was one of the best seasons that we have ever seen from a closer and one that made last season puzzling for the A’s.

This season, Treinen gets a fresh start on a new team in a new league. As of now, he is slated to be the setup man for LA, but if Treinen is right, he can easily steal the closer spot away from Kenley Jansen.

By no means is Treinen a home run for them this season, but he has the potential to pitch like an All-Star
