Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons they are the team to beat
By Nick Ziegler
Proven it during the regular season
While the regular season in the NBA feels like a long time ago, it still has a lot of meaning for when the season resumes. Before this season, the Lakers had a disappointing first season with LeBron James.
However, on Christmas, before LeBron was injured, they were the fourth seed in the Western Conference and they blew out the Golden State Warriors on Christmas. Unfortunately for them, once LeBron got hurt, they started to free fall in the standings.
One has to wonder what the team would look like now if James never got hurt and the Lakers ended up being a Top-4 team in the West.
This season, it was a goal of Los Angeles to be one of the best teams in the regular season, and they have proven that. Los Angeles currently holds the best record in the Western Conference and second-best record overall behind only the Milwaukee Bucks.
With the Bucks being in the weaker Eastern Conference, one could speculate that the Lakers might have a few more wins if they played in the East. Also, just before the suspension, they were able to defeat the Clippers and Bucks in one weekend. This was a very impressive feat and showed both of those teams that they will be a force come playoff time.
