1. What will the impacts of Chris Harris Jr. and Linval Joseph be?

Perhaps the Chargers’ two biggest signings on defense in free agency, veteran cornerback Chris Harris Jr. and defensive tackle Linval Joseph will look to become solid contributors on a loaded Chargers defense.

Harris Jr., who was with the divisional Denver Broncos from 2011 until 2019 is now 31-years old and signed a two-year deal with $17 million dollars in free agency. He’s expected to start opposite Casey Hayward and should give the Chargers one of the best cornerback tandems in the NFL,

Joseph, who will turn 32 in October, is entering his 11th season in the NFL, and previously spent the last six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, where he posted 15 sacks, 32 tackles for loss, and 51 quarterback hits.

Like Harris Jr. is expected to start, so is Joseph. With the Chargers moving on from veteran defensive tackles Brandon Mebane and Slyvester Williams this offseason, the interior of the defensive line will feature Damion Square and Joseph.

Both of these signings from the front office were made with one motive in mind: Continue to upgrade positions where the Chargers have gotten solid production by players in the past. As Joseph and Harris Jr. bring their talent to an already solid defense, the hope is that the talent meshes together quickly enough to make the Chargers one of the best in the NFL.
