As the Los Angeles Lakers get ready to resume the season, Bleacher Report recently named their reason to not trust them.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the best teams in the NBA all season, as they are a true contender to win a championship. Along with a few other teams, the Lakers can be in the NBA Finals this season, but that doesn’t mean that they are perfect.

Recently, Bleacher Report named one reason not to trust every contender this season. For the Lakers, it was the minutes when LeBron James isn’t on the court.

This has certainly been a huge issue for the Lakers this season, as James has embraced the role of being the point guard, he is leading the league in assists. While teams have always been better with James on the court, it is a concern of just how big the gap is when he is on the court compared to when he is off.

Even though the Lakers have a second superstar in Anthony Davis, they haven’t had the playmaker in the backcourt consistently to help Davis when James is off the court.

This has been an issue for the Lakers all season, and recent news might not help them improve on it. The Lakers will be without two of their point guards in Orlando, as Avery Bradley opted out of the season, and Rajon Rondo will be out for 6-8 weeks after suffering a hand injury.

With these two out, the Lakers will be looking for suitable replacements in the backcourt. One of the options will be Alex Caruso. This season, Caruso has been very good for the Lakers, especially on the defensive end of the court. However, we haven’t seen him be asked to be much of a playmaker this season.

Another option for the Lakers to be a secondary playmaker will be Dion Waiters. As we have seen throughout his career, Waiters can be a good playmaker with the second unit.

If the Lakers are going to win a title this season, they will have to find a way to be better than they have been with James off the court. One thing that will be crucial is finding a secondary playmaker.
