Recent Los Angeles Dodgers rumors are that the team and Mookie Betts are close to a massive extension.

As we get ready for Opening Day of Los Angeles Dodgers baseball, recent rumors are that the team and Mookie Betts are closing in on a massive deal.

For the past few years, the Dodgers have been very close to winning a World Series. Unfortunately, they have fallen just short of those goals. This offseason, the Dodgers pulled off a blockbuster trade to bring in one of the best players in the league in Mookie Betts.

The deal brought Betts and the poor contract of David Price to the Dodgers, as the franchise gears up for another run at the World Series. Since the Dodgers took Price in the deal, they didn’t have to give up much for a player the caliber of Betts.

Also, since Betts was due to be paid a lot of money soon, the Red Sox didn’t have a ton of leverage in trade negotiations. However, since the Dodgers haven’t been shy when it comes to spending cash, most assumed they would be making a serious run at trying to re-sign Betts.

According to reports, the Dodgers and Betts are closing in on a massive 10-year deal that would keep Betts in Dodger blue for a long time.

These big contracts for baseball players are always a risk, but Betts is certainly one of the best players in the league. In six seasons with the Red Sox, Betts is a four-time All-Star and also won the AL MVP in 2018.

At 27-years-old, Betts still has a lot of good baseball left in him, as he is a five-tool player. While the speed aspect of Betts’ game won’t translate in a 10-year contract, he hits for average and power as well.
