Lakers Rumors: Nets, Pelicans interested in Jason Kidd

Recent Lakers rumors have been about whether Jason Kidd might leave to coach elsewhere for next season.

As we get closer to the start of the NBA Playoffs, recent Lakers rumors have been about one of their assistant coaches, Jason Kidd. Despite the Lakers coaching situation looking very strong this season, it was a huge question mark for them last summer.

When the franchise looked like it was a mess, they decided to part ways with Luke Walton, opening the door for a new coach. Many thought that it was going to be Ty Lue as the new coach of the Lakers, but the Lakers and Lue didn’t seem to be close on a contract.

So, after things with Lue fell through, the Lakers moved on to Frank Vogel. Even though Vogel had a great coaching career with the Indiana Pacers, many weren’t all that thrilled with the hire at the time. Also, the Lakers hired Jason Kidd, who had previous coaching experience, and who some believed might be waiting for Vogel to struggle.

Well, Vogel and the Lakers never struggled this season, and Kidd has done a great job by all accounts as an assistant. Since the Lakers have been so successful this season, Kidd has been rumored to be a target to become a head coach once again.

According to reports from Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania, both the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets.

Seeing Kidd being targeted to be a head coach once again shouldn’t be surprising, but being linked to the Nets is. Kidd was the head coach of the Nets not to long ago, before working his way to Milwaukee.

However, for Kidd, both would be very good landing spots. Next season, the Nets will have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant fully healthy. With the Pelicans, Kidd would be taking over one of the most talented young teams in the league. As the playoffs start, it will be interesting to see where Kidd will be interviewing and if he is offered a spot.
