Recent Los Angeles Lakers news is that Bleacher Report recently handed out team awards for each team. Who got awards for the Lakers?

With the seeding portion of the schedule coming to a close, the Los Angeles Lakers know they will be facing either the Portland Trail Blazers of Memphis Grizzlies.

As the number one seed in the West, the Lakers could actually have a challenging time if the Trail Blazers are able to get in. Due to the Trail Blazers getting healthy and Damian Lillard being on an absolute tear, the Lakers could be facing a team that was in the Western Conference Finals last season in the first round.

While the Lakers might be challenged in the first round, there is no taking away from their great season. Recently, Bleacher Report handed out some team awards for them. To no surprise, they got things started with LeBron James winning MVP.

Since LeBron is a candidate for the award against the rest of the league, this is a no-brainer after his fantastic season. While it wasn’t surprising to see James chosen as the MVP, it also wasn’t surprising to see Anthony Davis chosen as the best defensive player on the team.

The Lakers have made a huge turnaround on the defensive end of the court, and a lot of that is because of Davis. With the ability to move well and block shots, Davis is one of the best defensive players in the entire league, and certainly the best on the Lakers.

In addition to the two main awards, B/R named Dwight Howard as the biggest surprise and Alex Caruso as more than just a highlight. It is hard to argue either one of those choices, as Howard has resurrected his career with the Lakers off the bench this season.

As for Caruso, the Lakers are a much better team with him on the court, as his high-flying dunks are not the only thing that he is good at. While the team awards are nice, the Lakers will certainly be looking to bring home some actual hardware this season.
