It’s never too early to start looking at mock drafts, and our first projection looks at players the LA Kings will take in the first two rounds.

For the second consecutive year, the LA Kings hold a top-five pick in the NHL Entry Draft. Last year, the franchise took Alex Turcotte, a centerman out of the University of Wisconsin, with the fifth overall pick. He’s a two-way player that tallied nine goals with 17 assists for 26 points as a true freshman.

The 19-year-old signed his three-year entry-level contract back in March, and he’s expected to play at the Kings minor league outfit in Ontario next year.

Looking to ahead to the 2020 NHL Draft, the Kings good fortunes continued, landing the second overall pick, and the wide consensus pick for that slot is Sudbury’s, Quinton Byfield. With Alexis Lafreniere projected to go number one overall, the Kings will do their homework on other guys like Tim Stutzle and Jamie Drysdale.

Still, it’s unlikely they’ll deviate from the projections, but we’ll explore that in other mock scenarios. So without further ado, here’s our two-round mock draft. Keep in mind that this particular draft includes zero trades. We will look at another two-round mock, trading back into the first one.
