Bleacher Report recently released their Mock Draft after the NBA Lottery. For the Los Angeles Lakers, the addressed the point guard position.

The NBA Lottery has come and gone, and for the Los Angeles Lakers, they were happy to not be part of the lottery process this season. As one of the best teams in the NBA, the Lakers will be drafting near the end of the first round.

As always, the NBA Lottery didn’t disappoint. We had some surprises at the top, and the New York Knicks once again fell below where they were projected to be. For the Lakers, even though they won’t be on the clock early in the night, they will still have the ability to draft a talented player.

Recently, Bleacher Report did their mock draft after the NBA Lottery and with the 28th pick they selected Cassius Winston from Michigan State.

Point guard has been an issue for the Lakers all year, and it will likely be a position that they look to address in free agency and in the draft. For one of the best basketball programs in the country, Winston had a very strong college career.

Even though Winston wasn’t one of the super freshman prospects, he was a player that worked hard and got better every year. The Lakers have recently had success with upper classmen coming to the NBA, as Josh Hart was also able to contribute right away.

Last season, Winston averaged 18.6 points and 5.9 assists per game. That type of playmaking is exactly what the Lakers can use, as they were very reliant on LeBron James to run the offense this season.

There is still a lot of time between now and the draft, but a player like Winston would be a solid addition for the Lakers. Getting high level college players late in the draft is never a bad thing, as they can generally help right away.
