LA Kings should take advantage of Coyotes draft capital disaster.

The league brought the hammer down on the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday for violating the NHL’s Combine Testing Policy. According to reports, the club was conducting physical testing of 2020 draft-eligible players before the Combine.

As a result, the Coyotes will forfeit their second-round pick in this year’s draft and their first-round pick in next year’s draft. The tricky part is that they already didn’t have a first or third-round pick this year. To make matters worse, if the organization re-signs Taylor Hall, they’d forfeit their second-round pick next year.

So, to say the Coyotes need draft capital would be putting it mildly.

It nearly guarantees that Hall goes elsewhere in the offseason. Otherwise, the club won’t be on the clock until the fourth round in both the 2020 and 2021 NHL Drafts. And now would be a good time to see what kind of return Arizona is looking at for a couple of their more talented players.
