The Los Angeles Lakers were able to finish off the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 5 thanks to a big performance from their two stars.

Despite losing the first game of the series to the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to take control of the series by winning 4 straight games.

Coming into the series, many believe that the Trail Blazers could be a threat to the Lakers because they were on fire and finally healthy. The Trail Blazers certainly were better than a 8th seed, as they have true star in Damian Lillard.

Unfortunately for Lillard and the Trail Blazers, he was injured in Game 4 and left the Bubble, resulting in him not playing in Game 5. Without their best player, the Trail Blazers did put up a fight in Game 5, but they were no match for the Lakers.

Throughout the series, the big difference was the play of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The two superstars of the Lakers have lived up to that for the franchise, as they both had a fantastic series.

In the Game 5 win, James totaled a triple-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. James was a ridiculously efficient 14-of-19 from the field. In addition to the great game from James, Anthony Davis was also fantastic.

Davis totaled 43 points on 14-of-18 shooting from the field, as he continued to be a problem for the front court of the Trail Blazers.

The play of Davis and James was certainly the difference in the series, as they were both fantastic. Having two superstars is always a great luxury to have. Fortunately for the Lakers, Davis and LeBron are both playing really well will result in a lot of wins for the team in the playoffs.

Hopefully, the Lakers are able to get a little more from the supporting cast in the next round. If they don’t, the Lakers at least have two superstars to rely on.
