Lakers Rumors: Jason Kidd wants to coach Philadelphia 76ers
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Lakers rumors are that Jason Kidd wants to be the next head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
As the NBA Playoffs roll on, recent Lakers rumors have been about their assistant coach Jason Kidd.
The Lakers have been one of the most successful teams in the NBA this season, and their turnaround from last season is one of the best in the history of the game. For the Lakers, the turnaround has come in large part to what they did this past offseason.
While getting a second superstar in Anthony Davis was a huge deal, the Lakers also reshaped their coaching staff. Luke Walton and the team parted ways, and the franchise then brought in Frank Vogel to be the head coach.
The Lakers really did a nice job surrounding Vogel with a talented staff of assistant coaches, one of whom is Jason Kidd. Kidd has prior experience as a head coach in the league, and at the time of his hire, many thought he might end up being the coach of the Lakers if Vogel struggled.
Obviously, Vogel and the Lakers never struggled this year, and the success of the team has resulted in Kidd being one of the top available head coaching candidates. Recent reports are that Kidd has his eye on the coaching job for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 76ers would certainly be an interesting landing spot for Kidd, as they are a team with a good amount of talent, but maybe just not reaching their potential. As of now, they still have Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, although there have been some trade rumors regarding those two.
For Kidd, getting two players of that caliber certainly makes the job very appealing, as walking into a team with two All-Stars isn’t a luxury most coaches have. As the 76ers coaching search continues, we will have to see if Kidd gets what he desires.
