Recent Chargers rumors are that Justin Herbert is expected to make the start in Week 3 for Los Angeles.

As we head into Week 3 of the NFL season, recent Chargers rumors have been about the starting quarterback position. Just prior to their Week 2 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chargers found out that quarterback Tyrod Taylor was unable to play.

Taylor reportedly suffered a collapsed lung as part of a pain injection from a team doctor just prior to the game.

While that will surely be a huge story as it develops, it does mean that it likely clears the way for Herbert to start. Anthony Lynn did state recently that Taylor was going to start if he was healthy, but that doesn’t appear like it will be the case in Week 3.

Recently, Ian Rapoport reported that Herbert is expected to be the starter for the Chargers this week.

While Taylor was slated to be the starting quarterback for the Chargers for perhaps most of the season, Herbert showed against the defending champs that he is ready to play. Herbert threw for over 300 passing yards in the overtime loss, and he also showed his ability to run the football and extend plays with his legs.

With a 1-1 record and a close loss to the Chiefs, the Chargers as of now have to be considered as a potential playoff contender. Since the season is young, a lot can change. However, for the Chargers, they have their six overall pick already showing that he can keep the team in a position to win-now, while building for the future.

Even though Taylor might have more experience as a starter, the Chargers would be wise to start Herbert after seeing him against the Chiefs whether Taylor is healthy or not.
