Los Angeles Lakers dominate Miami Heat in Game 1

The Los Angeles Lakers were able to set the tone in the NBA Finals with a lopsided win against the Miami Heat.
In Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to take a 1-0 lead in their series with the Miami Heat. Coming into the game, the Lakers weren’t a big favorite. However, they blew out the Heat rather easily, as this one was over early in the third quarter.
The Lakers went on to win the game 116-98, as they big performances from LeBron James and Anthony Davis once again. While the Lakers have been great in the playoffs, one of the knocks you can have against them is that they haven’t done great in the first game of a series.
Things actually started out a little shaky for the Lakers, but when they began to feature Davis, the Heat had no answer. Davis ended up finishing with a game-high 34 points, as the Heat couldn’t slow him down at all. In addition to the 34 points, Davis also totaled 9 rebounds and five assists.
Like Davis, LeBron James also had a fantastic game for the Lakers, as he nearly totaled a triple-double. In the win, James finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists. The duo of James and Davis continues to impress and carry this team, but they were able to get some support in Game 1.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green, Alex Caruso all scored in double-figures, which was a nice boost. Getting some help from the supporting cast is one of the reasons why the Lakers won this game so easily.
Furthermore, now that the Lakers have a 1-0 lead in the series, they will be looking to really create some space in the series. The Heat did suffer some injuries in the game, as we will have to wait to see the status for those players on Friday.
