The LA Chargers came up just short on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints in a game they could have won.

It has been a tough start to the season for the LA Chargers, as they are now 1-4 in 2020. Despite the record not being all that good, the Chargers have been very competitive against some of the better teams in the league.

Against the Saints, the Chargers did blow a sizable lead, but that can be credited to loss of Keenan Allen. Allen was off to a great start with an early touchdown but suffered a back injury and didn’t play in the second half.

So far, Justin Herbert and Allen have been building a lot of good chemistry together, as Allen is proving to the league just how good of a wide receiver he is. Unfortunately, with Allen out and Austin Ekeler missing the game as well, the Chargers were lacking some weapons.

However, Mike Williams was able to step up and provide a spark for the offense with some great catches. Williams finished with five receptions, 109 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. A big catch on the sideline by Williams gave the Chargers a chance to win the game with a field goal late.

Unfortunately for the Chargers, Michael Badgely missed the field goal attempt, as it was a tough game for him considering he missed an extra point as well.

This easily could have been a win for the Chargers as they continue to play good football. For Los Angeles, the next step will be to get guys like Ekeler and Allen healthy once again, as they need to have their top weapons in a tough AFC West.

It has been encouraging to see the development of Herbert over the past few weeks. In the Super Dome, Herbert was able to go toe-to-toe with Drew Brees and threw for 4 touchdowns. Hopefully, the Chargers will soon be able to finish off some of these games with a win.
