Now that the Los Angeles Lakers are NBA Champions, there will be plenty of Lakers rumors as the offseason begins.
One of the most recent Lakers rumors has been about their coaching staff. After winning the title, the Lakers will surely have some changes before next season starts, and one of those possible changes will be on the coaching staff.
Recent Lakers rumors are that Jason Kidd is still being considered for the New Orleans Pelicans head coaching spot.
Kidd being rumored for the coaching spot shouldn’t be surprising as the assistant of the champions. For Kidd, the Pelicans are certainly a very appealing destination. While the Pelicans didn’t make the playoffs this season, they certainly have that potential next season as their young core, which mostly came from the Lakers continues to grow.
Brandon Ingram made the big jump last season into becoming an All-Star player. Now, we will have to see if someone like Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson will be able to follow in his footsteps.
While the Pelicans might not be a title contender for Kidd, they do have the potential to be a great team in the very near future. The young core of the Lakers that they traded for Davis has a bright future and having a player like Zion added to that will help the team succeed.
Kidd did a very good job with the Lakers and appears qualified and ready to be a head coach once again. Even though Kidd might not have had the success he wanted to with the Brooklyn Nets and their aging stars, he did help the development of Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee, and he is now a two-time MVP.
As the offseason rolls on, it will be interesting to see if Kidd does end up getting the job in New Orleans.
