Recent Lakers rumors are that Anthony Davis plans to opt out of his contract and then re-sign with Los Angeles.

Now that the Los Angeles Lakers are NBA Champions, there will be plenty of Lakers rumors about the offseason. Recently, there has been some talk about whether or not they might be losing Jason Kidd as an assistant coach.

The New Orleans Pelicans are interested in Kidd to guide their young core next season, as the Lakers are very familiar with the young core of that team. Coming into the offseason, the main priority for the Lakers will be to resolve the contract situation for Anthony Davis.

According to Shams Charania, Anthony Davis is going to opt out of his contract like many expected and then re-sign with the team.

Considering the Lakers just won a NBA Championship, it really isn’t a surprise to see that Davis wants to stay. Logically, the only reason why Davis would have wanted to leave Los Angeles after one season would have been if the franchise was just a complete mess.

That is luckily not the case anymore, as the Lakers are back on top of the mountain and looking to sustain this success.

With Davis eventually re-signing, the Lakers will once again have one of the best big men in the league on their team. This has been a trend for the franchise in the past, and it has worked out well.

In his prime, Davis will be good enough to attract other players to Los Angeles for the foreseeable future. Also, the Lakers still have LeBron James, who is showing no signs of slowing down.

Davis re-signing is certainly great news for the franchise, as it would have been devastating to see him leave after winning a title. Now, the Lakers will have to plan on how they will be looking to repeat as champions.
