Players the LA Lakers should target: Jrue Holiday

The next player that the Lakers should target in free agency is Jrue Holiday.

Holiday is near the top of the trade market this season and frequently finds his name wrapped up in trade rumors. This offseason could finally be the time that the New Orleans Pelicans pull the trigger and trade Holiday.

The Pelicans could be weary with trading with the Lakers again after the deal last year that sent Anthony Davis to the Lakers. However, if the Lakers were to get a deal done they would have to give up a solid package along with managing pending free agent Anthony Davis.

A package of Danny Green, Kyle Kuzma, and Quinn Cook, along with a 2020 and 2022 first-round pick. If this deal were to be made, Anthony Davis would have to take a slight pay cut and resign with the Lakers for a deal around two years and 60.2 million.

While on the surface level it may seem that there is no way Davis would agree to this, there is a very good chance that he might. Davis had gotten quite close to Holiday after they spent many years together with the New Orleans Pelicans.

We have seen before superstar players take a pay cut for the good of a team or so they can play with a player they mesh with well on the court along with having chemistry with on the court.

Holiday would bring a lot to the Lakers. He would fill their weakest position which is shooting guard. Along with this, he is a great playmaker which will take some of the weight off of LeBron’s shoulders in terms of facilitating.

Along with this, Holiday is one of the league’s elite defenders. He is a two-time All-Defensive player as well as averaging 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks a game.
