3 Chargers Draft Targets With the No. 23 Pick
2. Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is the perfect type of player for Jim Harbaugh. He's listed at 6-foot-6, 257 pounds. Warren is a lengthy, athletic difference-maker. He fully engages in run-blocking and loves to get physical in that aspect of the game. That is something that will catch Harbaugh's eye when diving into the film.
As a receiver, Warren has secure hands and runs crisp routes. He is also a monster after the catch and is tough to bring down in open space. Once he has the ball in his hands, his straight-line speed easily creates space. In addition, Warren excels in contested catch situations. He's the definition of a complete tight end.
In 56 college games, he had 153 receptions for 1,839 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. He also added 218 rushing yards and four rushing scores on the ground.
The Chargers need more weapons on offense to pair with Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey. Warren would be a great option. The best teams in the league have dynamic weapons at tight end (Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings, to name a few).
Just this past season, Brock Bowers dominated for the Las Vegas Raiders. He was third in the NFL in catches (112) and tied for eighth in receiving yards (1,194) with five touchdowns.
Getting more dynamic at tight end goes a long way and Warren should be a target for L.A.
