3 Chargers Draft Targets With the No. 23 Pick
3. Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri
It's not a shocker to see a wide receiver on this list. In the Wild Card loss to the Texans, the Chargers threw for 242 yards and Ladd McConkey compiled 197 of those yards. No other WR on the team finished with more than 10 yards.
During the regular season, McConkey was the only receiver to log more than 1,000 yards. Quentin Johnston had 711 yards and eight touchdowns but still had struggles with drops and concentration. Joshua Palmer is going to hit free agency, and there's no guarantee that he'll be back in Los Angeles.
The Chargers badly need another WR in the fold and Luther Burden III could be that guy. Burden III is a dynamic playmaker who thrives in open space/grass. The Missouri native creates chuck plays and makes it hard to bring him down open space.
Across 38 college games, Burden III had 192 receptions for 2,263 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. He's added 234 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
Getting more speed and explosiveness on the field will elevate the Chargers offense. Burden III brings these to the table and should be on Los Angeles' draft board.
