3. Will Dissly - TE

The Chargers desperately need a reliable tight end. Neither Gerald Everett nor Will Dissly became reliable options and while Dissly caught 50 passes in 2024, he had two major drops in the Texans loss that were inexcusable for a player with his experience.

Los Angeles has a potential out from Dissly's contract after this year. If he can't catch easy passes and become a safety valve for Justin Herbert, there isn't much reason to keep him around.

He had four drops during the regular season to go with the poor playoff effort and at 28 years old, it's hard to imagine him taking a significant step forward. Herbert needs a valuable receiver at the tight end position. Just look at Travis Kelce's impact in Kansas City to see how much it matters.

Considering that Jim Harbaugh prefers an old-school style offense, having someone who can block and catch passes is even more critical.

This upcoming NFL Draft has some strong tight end prospects, led by Penn State star Tyler Warren. Using an early pick at the position would be a wise move and if the Chargers wind up going that direction, Dissly could be on the chopping block.

Originally a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Dissly has carved out a solid career and even had 481 receiving yards this year. Even still, he's obviously not a true No. 1 option and Los Angeles should already be searching for his replacement to help this offense reach the next level.

There are a lot of tough decisions to make moving forward though this team has an exciting foundation. Now, the task becomes about fixing minor issues that became major problems in the Houston matchup. Unfortunately for Dissly, his drops were too significant to trust him moving forward.
