3 Chargers Making it Easy for L.A. to Say Goodbye in 2025

Simi Fehoko
One position that desperately needs reinforcements in the offseason for the Bolts is wide receiver. Justin Herbert is having a great season, throwing only one interception in 13 games and having a career-best 98.4 passer rating. The running game has also been solid behind J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards but the team is still ranked 24th in yards.
One of the main reasons for that is the lack of playmakers in the wide receiver room. Simi Fehoko is obviously not the main issue here as he was brought back as a depth option. At the same time, he has failed to be a solution.
Fehoko played in eight games and started in two for the Chargers before landing on the injured reserve list with an elbow injury. He is still expected to make a return this season but his time in Los Angeles may not extend beyond this season.
In eight games, Fehoko was able to corral six of his 16 targets for 106 receiving yards. He has been more involved on the offense, playing a career-high 244 snaps, than he has ever been in his career. In addition, he has continued to be a part of special teams, playing 81 snaps there. Unfortunately for the former Dallas Cowboy, however, he hasn't done enough in that span to justify a contract extension.
On Pro Football Focus, Fehoko has a 55.2 offensive grade. Not only is this the lowest PFF grade for any offensive player on the Chargers, but it also ranks 111th out of 128 qualified receivers in the NFL. The 27-year-old similarly struggles in creating separation, catching the ball, and blocking, making it hard to make an argument for keeping him around.
If he is able to return for the final stretch of the season and the playoffs, Fehoko could change his fate but him wearing a Chargers uniform past this season seems highly unlikely.
