4 Rams Immediately on Thin Ice to Begin 2025 Offseason

These four Los Angeles Rams are already on ice this NFL offseason after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Division Round.

3. Ahkello Witherspoon, CB

Ahkello Witherspoon was a late addition to the Rams' 2024 roster. After spending the 2023 campaign with the franchise, the veteran cornerback went unsigned last offseason before ultimately joining Los Angeles' practice squad.

Witherspoon had some decent moments here and there, but it didn't take long for Rams fans to realize he was someone they couldn't trust. The former Colorado Buffalo surrendered 36-of-52 targets (69.2%) for 435 yards, two touchdowns, and a 99.4 passer rating. A lack of discipline also didn't help his cause as he took five penalties — his highest total since 2018 (10).

Between free agency and the NFL draft, the Rams will have several opportunities to replace Witherspoon, who's slated to hit free agency in March.

He's still a solid backup CB when he's on his game, but that might not be good enough if the Rams want to win the Super Bowl next season — especially since he's turning 30 in March. It's clear his agent has a lot of work to do if he wants to convince management that Witherspoon deserves to be on next season's 53-man roster.

4. Joe Noteboom, OL

It isn't a secret that Joe Noteboom hasn't lived up to the three-year, $40 million contract extension he signed with the Rams back in 2022. Injuries limited him to 20 regular-season appearances in the first two years of the deal and that trend continued as he was limited to just four outings in 2024.

It'd be one thing if Noteboom made the most of his limited showings, but that wasn't the case. The ex-TCU blocker surrendered 15 pressures across 152 passing downs, resulting in a career-low pass block grade of 46.9, marking the third consecutive year that number has declined.

With starting tackles Alaric Jackson and Rob Havenstein providing Stafford with reliable protection, there isn't a pressing need to re-sign Noteboom this offseason. The Plano, TX native has made it abundantly clear that he's no longer the player he once was especially if his injury woes re-emerge in the fall.

Unless he's willing to take a major discount to prove that he still has 'it,' there's a good chance that L.A. fans have already seen the last of Noteboom in a Rams jersey.
