4. Asante Samuel Jr., CB
Asante Samuel Jr's inclusion on this list may surprise people. Entering the league, there was a ton of hype around Samuel Jr., given his father was a lockdown nFL cornerback who created turnovers.
Unfortunately, Samuel Jr. hasn't quite lived up to the elite status of his dad. In his first three seasons, Samuel Jr. only had one campaign in which he allowed below 60% of passes to be completed against him.
Samuel Jr.'s ball-hawking through the first four years of his career has been similar to his father's. In three of his first four seasons, Samuel Jr. has gathered two interceptions. The only season he didn't accomplish this was 2024, and that was because he missed most of the season due to injury.
That said, Samuel Jr. has yet to become that bona fide No.1 cornerback. Even though an injury cut
Samuel Jr.'s 2024 season short, it didn't seem as though he was turning a corner in the four contests he did play.
As a result, there is a very strong argument that Los Angeles should move on from Samuel Jr. Yet, letting Samuel Jr. leave could be a huge mistake. It will certainly be interesting to see what the Chargers decide to do with Samuel Jr. this offseason.
