The NBA season is underway, and the Los Angeles Lakers under JJ Redick are much improved, instilling hope into the fanbase. As the season heads into November, not everyone is asfull of hope and optimism as Lakers fans. This includes some former Lakers players.

At this point of the season, there aren't too many capable free agents available. The ones that are still out there will look for two-way or 10-day contracts and overseas deals. Some will try their luck in the G League while others wait for their phones to ring once injuries start piling up. Here is the list of former Lakers who aren't on an NBA roster right now but we could see at some point in the season.

JaVale McGee

It may be hard to believe for some, but JaVale McGee was the starting center for three NBA champions. After helping the Golden State Warriors win back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, McGee signed with the Lakers and started in 130 games in two seasons.

In the 2020 championship, McGee played a big role along with fellow big man Dwight Howard. The physicality and intensity the two brought next to Anthony Davis made the Lakers one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Since then, things didn't go too well for McGee. He has played for five different teams since then but failed to replicate that success. He spent the last season with the Kings but only played seven minutes per game in 46 appearences.

At age 36, McGee may find himself a small role as a locker room vet but his days as an impactful center are almost certainly over.
