5 Rams Leaving Los Angeles in the New Year
By Joe Summers
4. Alaric Jackson - LT
For all of the great parts of this roster, the offensive line isn't one of them aside from left tackle Alaric Jackson. He stepped in and has been one of the better tackles in the NFL, though that's exactly why he's likely to leave the franchise after 2024.
Jackson is an unrestricted free agent. Unless the Rams intend to give him a hefty extension, and the nature of their cap situation deems that improbable, then this looks like it could be his final year in Los Angeles.
He started 15 games last year and 14 so far this season with one more to play, looking like a legitimate franchise option. Pro Football Focus has Jackson as the 17th-best tackle out of 137 qualified players, showcasing just how impressive he's been.
The Rams are one of the NFL's smartest teams. They know how valuable Jackson has been and how important he could be in the future. That said, every other team now knows the same thing and he's set for a massive payday.
Unless Los Angeles is willing to pay Jackson as if he's an elite player, they'll be outbid. It's a tricky situation given how important it is to solidify that part of the offensive line, but the Rams' aging roster could make it impossible to meet his salary demands.
What the front office decides to do with Jackson is one of the most important offseason storylines for fans to monitor.
