The Los Angeles Rams had the third-worst pass-blocking unit in the league per Pro Football Focus. The only two teams with a worse offensive line were the 5-12 Saints and 4-13 Patriots.

What this offense was able to accomplish with this offensive line was nothing short of a minor miracle. Among that group, two offensive linemen shone the brightest: right guard Kevin Dotson and left tackle Alaric Jackson.

Dotson already signed a three-year, $48 million extension in the 2024 offseason but Jackson is hitting free agency now. The Rams will ideally want to retain Jackson, but they have a difficult decision to make with him.

Jackson had the best season of his career, receiving a 78.3 grade on PFF, making him the 18th-best offensive tackle in the NFL this season. The offensive line looked much better after he returned to the lineup in Week 3 after serving his suspension.

Yet, breaking the bank for Jackson will have consequences. The Rams already made the mistake of giving Noteboom a contract extension for it to backfire miserably. Jackson's worst games this season came against the 49ers and the Raiders, per PFF, teams who feature elite pass rushers like Nick Bosa and Maxx Crosby.

This could be a red flag for a left tackle who is trying to get paid like an elite blindside protector. Depending on what it would require to keep him, moving on from Jackson may be necessary for the Rams to maintain some financial flexibility going forward.
