The NBA offseason is all but wrapped up as training camps are set to open at the end of the month. While most teams have set their rosters for camp at this stage of September, some franchises are still looking to fill their two-way contract slots for the 2025-26 campaign, and one former Los Angeles Lakers big man scored a new deal because of it.

According to a release from the franchise, the New York Knicks have agreed to sign former Lakers big man Trey Jemison III to a two-way contract for the upcoming season. By signing the deal, Jemison joins Kevin McCullar and Tosan Evbuomwan on two-way contracts, as Ian Begley of SNY first reported.

Ex-Lakers Big Man Trey Jemison Signs With Knicks Before Training Camp

In 63 career appearances at the NBA level, Jemison owns averages of 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game. This past season, Jemison suited up and saw the floor in 22 games for Los Angeles, and performed admirably for a player in his role, averaging 2.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game. Despite seeing limited action on the hardwood, Jemison was extremely efficient on the offensive end, shooting just under 62% from the field.

Earlier this week, the undrafted former UAB standout went through a workout with the Knicks, via Stefan Bondy of The New York Post, and clearly did enough to make the new coaching staff want a closer look at what Jemison is capable of during training camp. Interestingly enough, Jemison isn't the only former Los Angeles big man to sign on with New York this offseason, as veteran center Alex Len did the same thing this past week.

Whether it is simply a coincidence or the Knicks' front office brass had its eye on these two ahead of these deals being agreed upon is anyone's guess. What we do know is that New York's training camp will feature players who recently donned the Purple and Gold.

What the future holds for Jemison, and Len for that matter, remains to be seen. They'll have their opportunity to show their worth to the brain trust in New York, though, and a shot at making a roster is all a player in their respective positions can ask for at this time of year.
