It turns out Quinton Johnston didn't miss Monday's practice, after all.

The Chargers clarified a surprise injury report on Tuesday, noting that they mistakenly listed WR Quentin Johnston as missing Monday's practice with an ankle injury.

Johnston was erroneously put on the report. Instead, it should've been guard Zion Johnson. Considering the similarity of the names, it's a simple mistake but fans should breathe a collective sigh of relief nonetheless.

With a pivotal AFC West matchup in Week 16 against the Broncos waiting, losing Johnston would've left Justin Herbert without one of his most important targets.

Chargers Clarify WR Quentin Johnston Injury Report at Tuesday's Practice

The 2023 first-round pick out of TCU struggled during his rookie campaign and while he hasn't delivered on his draft pedigree, Johnston's sophomore season has been much better. He has 34 catches for 459 yards and eight TDs, average 7.3 yards per target after notching a mere 6.4 mark last year.

He's scored in consecutive weeks as a legitimate red-zone weapon, though still has five drops. Despite that, Herbert has a 110.4 passer rating when targeting the second-year player.

Johnston has been reliably healthy in his brief time in the NFL, so it was a surprise to seen him on Monday's injury report. Provided the Chargers stay healthy over these final three weeks, they'll have a great chance to pick up a playoff win in a competitive AFC.

Los Angeles needs to beat Denver, though. They beat their rivals 23-16 earlier in the year, hopefully a sign of what's to come this week. After the Broncos, the Chargers face the lowly Patriots and Raiders to close the year. If they win all three, they could even jump up to the No. 5 seed.

Should the Chargers lose in Week 16, they'd likely be locked into the No. 7 seed and a difficult matchup against the Bills in the Wild Card round. Considering how good Buffalo has been of late, that's a game Los Angeles wants to avoid.

Here's hoping Johnston and the offense can help lead this team to a win on Thursday.
