The Los Angeles Chargers have already experienced success in the first season under Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz. Despite going 11-6 and making the playoffs in 2024, the Chargers still have room to grow.
In free agency, they've signed Tyler Conklin, Mekhi Becton, and Najee Harris, and brought back Mike Williams. They even re-signed Khalil Mack, who will provide the team with a veteran force off the edge.
While they have a solid foundation on the team, the Chargers still have room to grow, especially on the offensive end. There are a couple of solid veteran free agents on the market and Los Angeles should look into signing WR Stefon Diggs.
Diggs tore his ACL last October as a member of the Houston Texans, but he's reportedly "ahead of schedule" and is running "full speed," per ESPN Mike Reiss.
While he's only had a visit with the New England Patriots, the Chargers would be a great option in the passing game. Los Angeles' passing game needs a lift in 2025, as they were 19th in the league in passing offense (213.5).
Ladd McConkey has the main weapon for Justin Herbert, leading the team in catches (82), targets (112), and receiving yards (1,149). While that was impressive, they need more juice in that room, and Diggs could provide that.
Since he's coming off a torn ACL and is 31 years old, the Chargers could get him on a one-year, prove-it deal.
Before going down with his season-ending injury, Diggs had 47 catches for 496 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, he's notched 857 receptions, 10,491 receiving yards, and 70 touchdowns in his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Texans.
Diggs is still a reliable route runner with strong hands at the catch point. The Maryland product would give the Chargers a Pro Bowl receiver in 2025. Los Angeles needs more playmakers in the WR room, and Diggs could provide them with a nice veteran option who likely won't break the bank.
