Chargers Position Coach Impacted by Wildfires While Preparing for Playoffs
The Los Angeles Chargers have been preparing for a Wild Card showdown against the Houston Texans on Saturday to start the 2025 NFL Playoffs.
While that's had the attention of the team, there's been a wildfire that has been devastating the Los Angeles area. The Palisades Fire has taken over the area, forcing evacuations and damages to more than 1,000 structures. That fire has exploded in size, forcing the evacuation of at least 30,000 residents.
The fires are currently happening in Eaton, Hurst, and Woodley. While sports are happening, that isn't the focus right now. The health of everyone is at the forefront. Los Angeles offensive coordinator Greg Roman spoke with team reporters on Wednesday and revealed that wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal has a home in Calabasas that is affected by the wildfires.

Roman said, "Last night was a really intense night for him."
We hope that Lal and his family are safe during this scary time. The health and safety of everyone involved is the focus. The Chargers have been preparing all week for the contest against the Texans, but it's difficult to stay completely focused when something of this magnitude is happening in the area.
Thankfully, the Chargers will travel to play Houston so they don't have to worry about the game being postponed or anything like that. The Rams, however, will be hosting the Minnesota Vikings at SoFi Stadium on Monday night. The NFL released a statement stating they are monitoring the developments in the area and will remain in contact with both teams.
Nonetheless, these football games don't matter right now. The main objective is to contain these fires and get them to subside. For everyone that is in the area, please be safe and stay updated on what is happening.
