The Los Angeles Chargers had a solid season in Jim Harbaugh's first season as the head coach. They more than doubled their win total from a season ago and made the postseason. They ended up losing to the Texans in the Wild Card round but Bolts fans are happy with the progress of the team.
Most of the Chargers' success came on the defensive side of the ball. They had one of the best defenses in the NFL and allowed fewer points than any other team.
The other end of the field, however, left some to be desired. The Chargers were a middling offensive team all year, ranking 11th in scoring and 20th in total offense. Under new offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Chargers established a solid run game but the passing game lacked juice. The offense had a high floor due to Justin Herbert never turning the ball over but the WR room wasn't good enough outside of star rookie Ladd McConkey.
Therefore, the Chargers need to address the issue in the offseason. One free agent who they can target to upgrade the receiver rotation is former Charger Keenan Allen.
Allen is hitting free agency for the first time in his 12-year career. He was traded to the Bears last offseason, but things didn't go according to the plan for him in Chicago. In the dysfunctional Bears offense, no receiver was able to thrive. Allen finished the year with 70 catches, 744 yards, and seven touchdowns.

After the season, Allen voiced his desire to play in Los Angeles and listed his preferred destinations as the Chargers or the Rams. He didn't rule out staying in Chicago, either, per Chicago Sun-Times' Patrick Finley.
On a short-term deal, Allen would be an excellent veteran addition to the roster. Having one of the best players in franchise history return to Los Angeles and chase the Lombardi Trophy would be a great story for everyone involved.
