The Los Angeles Chargers showed plenty of promise during head coach Jim Harbaugh's first year behind the bench, finishing the 2024 campaign with 11 wins. Even though the Chargers' postseason run only lasted one game, their performance left the fanbase feeling optimistic about the future.
One way that the Chargers can take themselves to the next level is by adding a difference-making playmaker this offseason. Although Ladd McConkey was terrific in his rookie year while fellow receivers Quentin Johnston and Josh Palmer were solid, too, an elite wideout could be exactly what quarterback Justin Herbert needs to unlock his full potential.
After missing out on acquiring the likes of Davante Adams and DK Metcalf earlier this offseason, one NFL analyst has the perfect WR target for Los Angeles. In fact, it's a name that Chargers fans are more than familiar with.
Chargers Urged to Trade for Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill
On Thursday, Pro Football Focus' Mason Cameron urged the Chargers to make a trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The eight-time Pro Bowl playmaker previously spent six seasons in the AFC West as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, and a potential signing would easily make him Herbert's top weapon going forward.

Hill's name entered the rumor mill when he expressed his unhappiness with how the Dolphins' 2024 campaign ended. Even though the elite speedster has since retracted his comments and apologized to his teammates, it's still possible that Miami might be open to a trade.
"Despite signing a new three-year deal last August, Hill’s contract is structured in a way that his bonus doesn’t kick in until near the start of the 2025 season, giving the team ample time to facilitate a trade, should they decide to move on," Cameron wrote.
According to Over The Cap, Hill is owed $27.65 million in guaranteed salary for the 2025 campaign. Having said that, his cap hit only sits slightly higher at just over $27.69 million, which is an affordable number for a Chargers team that has more than $42.3 million in cap space left to spare.
If the Dolphins are willing to make a deal, it's hard not to love the idea of Hill joining the Chargers. Even though his 81-959-6 stat line from last season was somewhat disappointing, it was only in 2023 when the five-time All-Pro playmaker led the NFL in receiving yards (1,799), touchdown catches (13), and scrimmage yards per touch (14.5), and that's the type of player who can volt Los Angeles into the Super Bowl conversation.
It might be tough for some Chargers fans to cheer for a player they spent years booing. At the same time, those boos would quickly turn into cheers if Hill helped guide the franchise to a Lombardi Trophy.
It cost the Dolphins five draft picks to land Hill back in March 2022, including a first and second-round pick. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old is older with a more expensive contract than he had back then, meaning L.A. might be able to pry him from Miami with some combination of two Day 1 and/or 2 selections.
At the end of the day, it remains to be seen how a potential Hill trade might impact the Chargers. For now, Harbaugh's team will end into the rest of the NFL offseason tied for the ninth-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+2200) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
