Chargers vs. Ravens Opening Odds Feature Surprise for Harbaugh Bowl
The Los Angeles Chargers will be one of the last teams to kick off in Week 11 as they face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football. However, those around the NFL are already looking ahead to Week 12, as Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh takes on his brother, John, and the Baltimore Ravens.
This matchup between sibling coaches is incredibly rare, and both teams are also firmly in the playoff hunt, which means there's plenty at stakes for each side ahead of this Monday Night Football showdown.
As these teams gear up for their Week 12 date, oddsmakers have already released the opening lines for the Harbaugh Bowl -- and they feature at least one surprise.
FanDuel Sportsbooks lists the Chargers as only 3-point underdogs in Week 12 against Baltimore with -105 odds to cover the spread. Meanwhile, LA is +144 on the moneyline, and the contest features a point total of 48.5.
Considering the offensive firepower of the Ravens, it is a bit of an eye-opener to see Los Angeles as only a 3-point underdog. Lamar Jackson entered Week 11 second in passing yards and one of the favorites to win MVP. Meanwhile, Derrick Henry was No. 2 in rushing yards as well, plus the league leader in rushing touchdowns -- and he added another on Sunday.
That's not even to mention wideout Zay Flowers, who's a big play waiting to happen, and a pair of legitimate tight end playmakers in Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.
However, all of that talent failed to show up in Week 11, as John Harbaugh's squad managed just 16 points in a 18-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who ranked No. 8 in yards allowed and No. 2 in points allowed entering Sunday.
Now, the Chargers, who entered Week 11 as No. 6 in yards and No. 1 in points, have a clear blueprint to follow in this sibling faceoff.
Los Angeles also has plenty of ties to Baltimore throughout the organization that give the team some extra insight on how to stop the Ravens. Given all of that, LA very well could pull off the upset in primetime, even if it doesn't quite have an electric offense.
