The Los Angeles Chargers had a successful season in the first year under Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers future is bright but they need to make some improvements to the roster.
A clear need is at wide receiver and safety Derwin James wasted no time recruiting Tee Higgins over to Los Angeles.
James was down in Orlando at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. While he was there, he jumped on Micah Parsons' podcast The Edge. James was asked about Higgins, and he made a pitch for the star playmaker to sign with Los Angeles in free agency,
James said, "Hey what’s up, Tee? Tee or any receiver out there what’s up? What’s happening? Let’s go do it.”

Chargers News: Derwin James Recruits Tee Higgins to Los Angeles
It's no surprise that the Chargers will be looking for upgrades at receiver and there won't be a better option on the open market than Higgins.
Higgins played the 2024 season on a franchise tag after failing to reach a long-term extension with the Bengals. He's been in Cincinnati for the last five seasons and has been a reliable playmaker.
In 70 games (62 starts), the Clemson product has amassed 330 receptions (512 targets) for 4,595 yards, and 34 touchdowns. Despite being on an offense with Ja'Marr Chase, Higgins still found a way to get his fair share of targets.
In 12 games this season, Higgins had 73 catches for 911 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns. He's looking to cash in this spring and James would be pumped to have him land in Los Angeles.
Higgins will likely ask for a contract that makes him at least $30 million annually. The money shouldn't be a problem since the Chargers will have $63 million in cap space per Overthecap.com.
Ladd McConkey immediately produced as a rookie this past season, notching 82 receptions for 1,149 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. They also have Quentin Johnston on the roster but he still has trouble with consistency and drops.
In the Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans, McConkey had 197 yards, yet no other receiver had more than 10 yards. That kind of production is unacceptable and Los Angeles knows they need more at the position.
Adding a guy like Higgins would be a slam dunk and James knows it. That's why he's getting the words out early that he would be welcomed in L.A. with open arms.
