Dodgers Bounce Back And Defeat The Mets In Shutout NLCS Game 3 Win
By Rami Hanna
Walker Buehler looked to build back the Dodgers momentum as the Boys in Blue traveled to Queens, New York to take back the lead and get closer to an appearance in the World Series.
The Dodgers did not have the kind of ending they wished they had when it came to game two of the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets who shut down the bullpen game from LA and showed them that they still had life in this first-to-four win series.
As game three began, the most important thing that needed to happen was to get an early start and take advantage of any holes that the Dodgers did not seem to be able to fill. To kick off the runs, the duo of Will Smith and Tommy Edman would bring in the first two runs as Smith brought in Max Muncy before Edman brought in Teoscar Hernandez to stamp in another.
Buehler's four innings produced no runs, six strikeouts, three hits, and a whole lot of Dodgers fans losing their minds when he struck out Francisco Lindor in a bases-loaded situation where it looked like Los Angeles was going to have to find a way out of the mud again.
If it wasn't for Enrique Hernandez, October baseball and the Dodgers would not feel the same. He continued to show why he loves the spooky season with a huge two-run home run that left fans in New York wondering if this was a nightmare that they could get out of if the Mets were able to find a way back into this game.
Mr. MVP himself, Shohei Ohtani would crack a huge home run deep into the second deck before bringing home two men to make it a 7-0 shutout in the top of the eighth. The Dodgers looked indestructible and unstoppable with each swing and catch they made to rob the Mets of any runs they attempted to snatch.
Muncy would go on to make history when he landed the final shot out of the revolver as he hit the final home run of the game which would mark his thirteenth in the postseason. This ties the franchise record alongside Justin Turner and Corey Seager who Muncy played with for years. The two were part of the 2020 World Series Championship team for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers will look to build a three-to-one deficit against the Mets in game four of the National League Championship Series when they return to Citi Field for the second of three games there as the Boys in Blue attempt to dominate and become one step closer to their first World Series in four years.
